One of the last views of Three Oaks Plaza. three large, cube-shaped office buildings just off of the Arlington expressway. one building once housed the Jacksonville FBI office, and two belonged to Westinghouse Offshore Power Systems. Westinghouse sought to develop a nuclear facility off the coast of Blount Island Terminal, with construction beginning on one of the largest cranes in the area. Plans fell through, and construction of the offshore facility never began. This facility now functions as a makeshift squatter shelter. Windows have been smashed out, stairways are barricaded, and the outside is graffiti-ed in all aspiring local artists' tags.
The fate of three-oaks plaza was recently decided in 2024. with Axia Geocapital being the most recent purchaser of the property. construction is now underway to develop the three office buildings into low-cost apartments, complete with an amenity center & guard post where an old jazz club once stood. Building one has recently been completed (the old FBI building), with tenants currently moving in to new modern apartments. Construction on buildings two and three are scheduled to start “extremely soon”….
